Almost a century ago, Phineas Fogg, so the story goes, astounded the world by going around the globe in 80 days to win a bet. Inspired by that, the authors were determined to duplicate that feat. In planning this trip we scanned many of our diaries to find out which missionaries had enjoyed our bed and board in Louisville while they were in the States. We decided if we stayed in their homes abroad. we might 'get by' financially and go around the world. Never say to us, ' If you ever get over our way drop in.'
