Johann Sturm's was the leading educator of the Reformation period and was admired by Luther. Sturm organized the Strasbourg academy and educational system for the City Council. This served as a model throughout the Protestant world. During the course of Sturm's long life he corresponded with the rulers of many lands. This volume offers an introduction to Sturm and his Christian humanist educational ideas. It provides the first English translation from Latin of Sturm's most comprehensive writings on education.
