This Greek Lexicon is an abridged form of the standard lexicon for Greek by Liddell and Scott. It is for intermediate level Greek students and includes the vocabulary found in ancient Greek writings: pagan Greek, the Septuagint, the New Testament, the Patristic writers. Greek words appear in root form only, in Greek alphabetical order. There is no linkage to Strong's numbering system in this lexicon. The Abridgement of Liddell and Scott's Greek-English Lexicon is intended chiefly for use by students of Greek in high-school and college. It has been abridged by the omission of: Most passages from the ancient writings, except where examples seemed necessary to explain more clearly the usage of a word; Discussions of the derivation of words; Words used only by authors not read in schools, or of the particular meanings of words such as those not in general use, such as medical or scientific terms. But words used by Theocritus, the writers of Anthology, Lucian, and Plutarch in his Lives, have been retained; and special care has been taken to explain all words contained in in the New of Testament.
