George Whitefield's lifelong mission was to tell people about God. He preached in England but soon wanted to spread the word in American colonies also. George's trips to America changed his life. They also changed the colonies. George accomplished many things in America. He opened an orphanage. He became good friends with Benjamin Franklin. But George is considered most important for his influence on the religious movement called the Great Awakening. That movement had a large effect on the American colonies.
