This commentary includes a major introduction, translation and verse-by-verse commentary. W.D.Davies explores the multiplicity of genres in Matthew that call for flexibility in method and aim, and uses the more traditional historical-critical approach. According to the author this is the best approach since the text of Matthew makes the indisputable assumption that behind it and the community within which and to which its author wrote stand the life, death, and resurrection of an actual person, Jesus of Nazareth. This is a scholarly work. Slightly Imperfect.
