Residents of New York City's Astoria, Queens, housing projects must have wondered about the skinny little girl who seemed to spend every waking moment on the basketball courts in the neighborhood. Summer or winter, she was out there, continually shooting hoops and looking for pick up games with anyone who wouls take her on. Her practice paid off.
