The Simpsons burst onto television screens at the beginning of the 1990s and were still there at the end. Mulder and Scully investigated the X-Files, while Friends, ER, and Baywatch all won big audiences worldwide. Gangsta rap and grunge dominated the airwaves and the charts, with a little help from Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey. Crazes such as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and the Power Rangers came and went, while video games wen from strength to strength. Dinosaurs were big at the box office, with such as Jurassic Park, as were aliens in ID4. Bigger still was Titanic, which turned Leonardo Di Caprio into a star for the new generation. And as the decade-and the century-came to an end, the millennium bug loomed....
