With her 1998 title role in There's Something About Mary, Cameron Diaz became a Hollywood sensation. Few would guess that this beautiful star-the daughter of a Cuban-American father-had been an avowed tomboy who was teased for being tall and thin. At 16 Cameron convinced her parents to let her become a model, and she soon found herself travelling all over the world for her work. But by the time she turned 21, she was ready for a change. A small role in The Mask with Jim Carrey brought her an agent and offers of similar roles. Refusing to be typecast and recognizing she still had much to learn, Cameron instead took quirky parts in independent films like Feeling Minnesota and Being John Malkovich, before starring in the hit film Charlie's Angels. No one can predict what character she'll take on next, and that's why Hollywood insider's as well as Cameron's fans love her.
