Born a slave named Isabella, Sojourner Truth was sold to one owner after another as a child. Even later as a free woman, she never forgot the pain of slavery. She travelled the country, speaking out for freedom. After the Civil War Sojourner helped black people find jobs in the North. She also worked for the women's rights movement. Throughout her long life Sojourner carried out her mission- to help others and declare the truth.
