Caleb's Crossing is a beautiful historical, strong in Christian faith and rich in history, based upon the true account of a young man named Caleb. Caleb was the first Native American to graduate from Harvard, in 1665. His story is remarkable. As an Indian Youth, he was raised in his own language and culture. Around the time he was twelve, he converted to Christianity, then mastered English, and then Latin and Hebrew and Greek. He attended Harvard and studied to be a minister with the finest Puritan youths of his time. The story's main character is Bethia Mayfield, the daughter of Minister Mayfield (the man responsible for Caleb's conversion). Bethia and Caleb become close friends. Bethia encourages Caleb's nascent Christainity and spiritual re-birth, and it is Bethia that holds Caleb's hand as he dies.
