In this study of Isaiah, Brevard S. Childs shows how the idea of 'canon' includes the way the Church in every age has grappled with the Scriptures. Using Isaiah as a case study, Childs first looks at the Septuagint translation, then analyzes the commentaries and tractates of key figures in the patristic, medieval, Reformation, and modern periods showing the church's attempt to understand the Scripture throughout each age, and the similarities in the theological findings.
