Apologia's Marine Biology, 2nd Edition elective takes your upper-high school level student under the sea to explore the many wonders of marine wildlife and habitats! The textbook opens with a chapter on oceans themselves--including plate tectonics, salinity & density, waves, tides, and other physical characteristics-before studying sea creatures and the different types of ocean zones. Subsequent chapters cover life in the sea, the first four kingdoms (Monera, Protista, Fungi, and Plantae), marine invertebrates, marine vertebrates, marine ecology, the intertidal zone, estuary communities, coral reefs, continental shelf communities, the deep ocean, and more. This course can be completed in a year at a pace of spending 45 minutes each day, five days a week, on the subject. The Student Notebook features a simple layout that integrates note-taking pages, room to answer 'on your own' questions, study module questions, module summary outlines, and space to record experiment data within a clean, fresh workspace. It is divided into sections that correspond to the text. An introduction provides rubrics, notes and schedules. This is followed by each module's notebooking pages, which include blank note-taking pages along with room to answer the 'on your own' questions, study guide questions, and space to complete an outline of the module summary. This is followed by the 'Experiments' section, which features lab reports for every experiment in the text; forms include the objective, materials needed, primary question for the experiment, hypothesis, and procedure, as well as room to record the student's hypothesis, data, and observations. A complete daily schedule breaks down the text, notebook pages, tests, and experiments into weekly and daily blocks; following the schedule will enable students to finish the course in 34 weeks. As biology is a prerequisite, it is assumed students have dissection tools and a microscope. Students will need to purchase the marine biology prepared slide kit and dissection specimens to complete the course. Prerequisite: Biology. Recommended for Grade 12. The solutions manual contains the tests and solutions to the module study guides and tests found in the text. A booklet containing an extra set of tests is shrink-wrapped with the manual. This kit includes: - Exploring Creation with Marine Biology 2nd Edition Text, 576 pages, softcover
- Exploring Creation with Marine Biology 2nd Edition Student Notebooking Journal
- Exploring Creation with Marine Biology 2nd Edition Solutions Manual, softcover
