'I want to grow as a follower of Jesus. I want to understand how to use my gifts in ministry.'
Over 50,000 people engage in Lay Servant Ministries as a way to answer these spiritual nudges.
The Basic Course encourages people to recognize and use their spiritual gifts for work in the Church, helping each congregation to become an outpost for mission and transformation. Individual sessions guide participants through thoughtful reflection on the areas of leading, caring, communicating, and spreading the love of Christ in the world.
Lay Servant Ministries offer people a variety of opportunities to serve God and neighbor. In this case, the name does not say it all! Lay Servant Ministries include teaching, leading, guiding, reaching out to others, and other ways to demonstrate and proclaim the love of God in Jesus Christ. This course can be used in local churches and other venues as a leadership primer.
This resource has been revised to include changes made to the former Lay Speaking Ministries program - now Lay Servant Ministries - at the 2012 General Conference.
