Merry Hanson is eagerly drawn to the twin lambs born at her friend Rachel Zook's farm. Without warning, the mother and one of the twin lamb dies, leaving the remaining baby ailing and shunned by the rest of the herd. No one seems to be able to coax the sick lamb back to health--except Merry, who connects all too well with the tiny animal after losing her own twin sister, Faithie, as a child. With all the time Merry is spending at the Zooks', it becomes increasingly difficult for her to ignore Levi and his new Mennonite girlfriend, who are back for a summer visit. And Merry has problems of her own, as well, with Jon Klein wanting to spend time with her. While Merry focuses more and more on helping the young lamb, she ignores the warning signs around her. Can she still count on her friends, as well as the boys in her life, while coming to grips with a tragedy that is years old? Recommended for ages 11 to 14.
