The eassays in this volume were published originally in 1900- edited by J. M. Frost, founding President (then, executive secretary) of the Sunday School Board of the Southern Baptist Convention. They present a slice of Southern Baptist life at the close of the 19th-century. While Baptists recognized that they held much in common with other Christian believers, they were concerned to articulate clearly their distinctives and to teach those distinctives to their children. At the time 'Baptist Why and Why Not' was published originally, the Southern Baptist Convention was a small struggling denomination still feeling the ravages of both the Civil War and Reconstruction. Despite their great struggles , Southern Baptists faced the new century with renewed commitment and expectations. In this volume you will sense the vigor of the young denomination as it entered the 20th-Century. 277 page softcover from Broadman & Holman.
