'A Sor Juana Anthology,' translated by Alan S. Trueblood, is a selection of lyric poetry that includes poetry of circumstance centering on Sor Juana's connections with the viceregal court, love poetry--poetry markedly personal in tone--light verse, and religious lyrics. She also reflects the outlook of the common people. Also in this book are excerpts from her sacramental play 'The Divine Narcissus.' Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz, a Mexican nun, was considered one of the finest Hispanic poets of the seventeenth century.
