Mary is an unhappy little girl who is forced to move to her uncle's manor in England when a fever sweeps through her home in India, killing her parents. While in England Mary discovers a secret garden, one that has been kept locked for ten years, and she has decided to find a way in. Mary discovers her sickly cousin Colin hidden in the manor and tells him of the secret garden. When Mary and Colin discover a way into the garden, will they discover the magic that lives inside it as well? An adapted version of the original story, this chapter book is excellent for early readers with simple sentences and illustrations.
