A Complete Literary Guide to the Bible contains both biblical and literary scholars contributing this resource that is meant to explore the Bible via literary analysis with a balance in biblical studies. The contributing scholars were assigned sections of the Bible and were to give their own original analysis with attention to genre, unity, and style. The editors of the volume desire for this book to not only be a resource but a commentary, broadening its readers horizon of understanding the Bible. The four sections herein are The Bible as Literature, The Literature of the Old Testament, the Literature of the New Testament, the Literary Influence of the Bible.The editors: Leland Ryken (Ph.D., University of Oregon) is professor of English at Wheaton College in Illinois, where he has twice received the 'teacher of the year' award. Tremper Longman III (Ph.D., Yale University) is the Robert H.Gundry Professor of Biblical Studies and the chair of the religious studies department at Westmont College in Santa Barbara, California. He is the Old Testament editor for the revised Expositor's Bible Commentary and has authored many articles and books on the Psalms and other Bible Studies.
