-----

There are titles and attitudes that honor Jesus, and others that dishonor him. Honor was no small thing in Hebrew culture as it was throughout the East. The verb Kabad means 'to appreciate how important it is.' The equivalent in the Greek language, which is timé, is added the idea of something very heavy and valuable 'like gold.' One of the channels through which honor or disgrace was expressed was the way people called someone, especially if they were important people or who were in a higher place than the person invoking them. It was in this cultural context that Jesus was pleased when someone recognized who he was, what he stood for, and what he meant to their lives. It seems that the flow of the work of the Holy Spirit was conditioned on the principle of the honor that people showed to Jesus through the title. In Who is this?, the author will take you through the four gospels discovering this important point as is honor.
