This work, not a commentary, but more of a 'theology of the Psalms' than a commentary, is divided into three books. The first book focuses on the history and structure of the Psalms. In this book, the author traces the development of the Psalms as a book from the time of Moses down to the post-exilic period. The second book focuses on the theology of the psalms, treating the topic of Christ in the Psalms and personal religion in the psalms. The third book is a history of the use of the psalms in the church, from its beginnings in the Old Testament through the history of the church.
