The curriculum of Living Waters developed from an understanding of human growth and development and from theological premises. The authors chose to develop a curriculum with freedom and flexibility, as well as one whose theological context is that of Roman Catholicism. In elelcting this framework the authors consciously determined to steer a middle course between a curriculum that attempts to socialize children into the Roman Catholic Church by indoctrination without regard for human freedom, and one that emphasizes moral growth and faith development independently of the traditions of the Roman Catholic community.
