Christians are often blamed for being impractical and unrealistic. Sometimes they are viewed as being too selective and only focusing on the positive and simple aspects of life. Pastors are accused of being quick to major on the prospect of a glorious heaven but bury their heads when it comes to the gory points of this life. Perhaps these criticisms are justified by the attitude of some Christians who choose to ignore the suffering and problems ordinary people face in what is commonly called 'the real world.' However, any honest reader of the Scriptures must admit that the Bible is not silent on human hurt. Furthermore, the same Scriptures disclose that godly people of all generations have not been immune to the practical difficulties and painful dilemmas that ordinary people face today. Problems and pain are something we all have in common. Christians bleed, cry and hurt like other people. Our faith in Jesus Christ does not insulate us from affliction and heartache. In this book we look at some of the agonising and distressing issues people face today.
