During the 1860s, conflict erupted between neighbors over the protection of slaves. While some folks provided safe houses, other landowners felt that slaves were the right of every Southerner. Sparks fly when the Davidson and Beaumont families take opposite sides, and loyalties become divided as the South is plunged into the civil war.
