Saxon's Math Intermediate can be used in place of the traditional Saxon 5/4. This 'Power Up Workbook' provides consumable pages for students to complete the Facts Practice, Mental Math, and Problem Solving sections given in the 'Power-Up' section of the textbook. For the 'Facts Practice' problems, the textbook simply refers students to complete the problems given within this workbook. For the Mental Math and Problem Solving exercises, the problems themselves are provided within the textbook, and this Power-Up workbook only contains room for students to record their answers-the questions are not reproduced within this workbook. The Problem-Solving space, however, does contain a format for students to follow while working out their solution, guiding them through the framework of 'Understand, Plan, Solve, and Check.' The 'Facts Practice' section is designed to be completed quickly, with students writing answers as fast as possible. The 'Mental Math' section is designed to be read to the student by the teacher, or students may read independently and mentally work the problem. The 'Problem solving' section helps students determine what questions to ask in order to settle upon an appropriate strategy to use to solve the problem. 120 non-reproducible, newsprint-like, three-hole-punched, perforated pages.
