'A Different Kind of Church' is a high concept documentaryfilm that revolves around a wild free spirited characternamed Vito Bitetto and the ministry he founded. Growing upin the rat race streets of Brooklyn New York, the cards werestacked against Vito from day one. He chose to surroundhimself with those who thought that stealing, drug use, fastcars and fine clothes were paramount. This inevitably landedhim into numerous notorious prisons. Places like New YorkState Penitentiary, Clinton Dannemora, and Ryker's Islandbecame his new home. Vito now found himself sharing prisoncells with the most insidious men to ever walk the planetEarth. He cried out to the Lord and asked Him to please helpand he'd promise to change. After Vito's release, Godrevealed a supernatural vision to him. It uncovered the factthat through a simple thrift store a flourishing ministrycalled Good Samaritan would emerge. Amazingly, all this cameto be within a three year period of time. Today, Vito sellsdonated items from the thrift store he started to raisemoney to feed the poor, rent homes to shelter the homelessand ex-cons and pay bills associated with the ministry. Moreover, a church service in a spruced up warehouse takesplace every night. Some of the congregation attend simplybecause they want to and love the ministry, but others onlybecause the court ordered them as a stipulation ofprobation. Vito states, 'These are the ones who resist, andthe enemy uses them to divide and cause chaos in theministry. Like many churches, the persecution comes from theinside and out, but God is large and in charge'. Today, GoodSamaritan Ministry has about one hundred members, feeds overtwo hundred families a week and rents eight homes thatshelter men, women and children.
