The NCFCA Comprehensive Guide to Speech Parent's Guide will help students learn the skills used in the National Christian Forensics and Communications Association tournaments. This guide was developed to help parents and teachers train their students in speech and debate before they reach the competition!
Contents are arranged around the five styles of exercises: Interpretation, Platform Speaking, Impromptu, Apologetics, and Extemporaneous, with multiple modules in each chapter. This guide uses the general framework and constraints of the NCFCA competition as the scope and sequence because the event choices and ballot criteria are carefully constructed to guide students toward godly, thoughtful, articulate, and gracious communication. This curriculum provides instruction for all 11 NCFCA speech events within the Platform, Interpretation, and Limited Preparation Categories.
Students will learn how to reason; research a topic; construct, defend, and refute an argument; and communicate in a persuasive way to many different types of audiences. Written from a distinctly Christian perspective, students will also learn to apply their worldview to the activity of debate and be inspired to use their communication skills in service to Christ.
Modules include a summary and list of objectives and a list of assignments. Sample checklists, worksheets, and a variety of other forms are included. The NCFCA rules, ballots, and script submission guidelines are included in the appendix. Great for club and co-op leaders, coaches, and parents of competitors!
179 pages, spiralbound softcover. This guide is not reproducible. Access to IEW's online supplementary resources such as PowerPoint presentations and videos, is included.
