While writing compositions with stylistic techniques and six of IEW's nine structural units, students will get to know the workers who keep a community running smoothly-from firefighters and police officers to road crews and rescue workers. The purchaser receives access to a downloadable Teacher's Manual e-book that supplies sample key word outlines, comprehension questions, and thorough instructions for activities (a printed version of this teacher's manual is available to purchase separately if you prefer). Designed for grades 1-2, but adaptable up to Grade 5. This Student Book contains assignments, instructions, engaging source texts, blank outlines, checklists, sample compositions, and clever vocabulary cards. Each lesson begins with an introduction page. The bulk of the lesson is completed on Days 1 and 2 with Days 3 and 4 used to copy the week's composition. This course assumes the teacher is familiar with 'Teaching Writing: Structure and Style,' which is necessary to teach this program well. In addition, the Student Resource Packet is a component of this course. It is included as an ebook with this book, or it can be purchased separately. This book includes: - Printed Student Book, 239 pages, spiralbound softcover with cut-out cardstock cards in the back. Reproducible within the immediate family only.
