This statement sets the tone in Applying the Sermon, perhaps the messiest, dirtiest part of sermon construction and delivery.Exegesis is easy enough, research, judgment, interpretation are surely all both art and science. But application, application of a sermon's content means that you crawl under the skin of your parishioners, through their conscience, scouring their mind, and speak the word of God directly to them. To call it 'difficult' sounds trite. Can it be done?
