8Nathan Schnackenberg grew up as an American missionary kid in Japan, until he was uprooted and returned to the United States in 1993. Culture-shocked, he ended up in Las Vegas, where he gradually abandoned his faith and fell into a spiraling quest for money, power and pleasure.
