Christian Initiation of Older Children is intended to prepare non-baptized children of catechetical age to become full members of the Church with the help of a parent. The first section of this section explores the meaning of baptism in the context of salvation history. The second section explains the symbols and the ritual of baptism following the three steps on the way to full sacramental initiation as described in the RCIA. The third section looks at the Eucharist as the sacrament which nourishes the new life received in baptism. While this book is primarily intended for children of catechetical age to prepare themselves for baptism, it could also be used to help boys and girls already baptized to complete their own Christian initiation through their First Communion.
