Whatever the occasion, joyful or sad, the worship of God must be the finest that his people can offer him. That is the justification for this small publication. To have provided liturgical forms would have severely limited the usefulness of the book among churches of a 'free' tradition. Yet that very tradition has sometimes been guilty of slipshod and thoughtless forms, scarcely worthy of the majestic God to who our worship is offered. The aim, therefore, has been to supply resource material suitable for a variety of occasions. It includes proposed Scriptures and hymns and, where it is thought appropriate, suggestions for inclusion in prayer.
