Reading Detective uses higher-order thinking and standards-based content to teach students superior reading comprehension skills and help them excel on state tests. The in-depth reading analysis required by the series guarantees results. The activities use higher-order thinking to develop reading skills by requiring student to answer multiple choice and short response questions then provide sentence level evidence for their answers. The beginning level introduces reading and analysis skills through single-skill units such as defining vocabulary, using context clues, identifying theme, and so on. Mixed skills activities are presented in the final unit. Each reproducible book contains goals, pretests and posttests, 50 activities, a glossary of terms, and answers that include evidence and detailed explainations of the evidence.
