Meet Kathleen McKenzie, a spunky, gifted eleven-year-old girl who enjoys competition and strives for excellence in all she does. She dreams of going to Washington, DC to compete in (and win!) the National Spelling Bee. Her life is full of opportunities and potential, but all that suddenly changes one October day. It's 1929, and her prosperous family, like many families, suffers greatly when the Stock Market crashes on 'Black Tuesday.' Her father loses his job, and the family is forced to move to her relatives' primitive farm in Ohio. Will Kathleen's faith be shaken or will she trust God no matter what her circumstances? Recommended for ages 10 and up.
