Designed to be used with Handwriting Without Tears's sold-separately wood pieces, students follow the teacher's demonstration by placing Wood Pieces on the Mat to make capital letters. This multisensory activity helps students to learn how to make their capital letters correctly-right side up, in the correct sequence of pieces, and facing the right way. The Mat is made of foam, similar to a mousepad or a craft foam sheet from a craft store. It is blue and measures 8=' by 11'. In the top left corner is a bright yellow smiley face.
