Designed to teach students specific skills in a definite, logical sequence, this systematic and cumulative approach will help students learn how to solve math problems and discover why they're solved in such a way. This Epsilon Universal Set includes everything you need for the Epsilon level, including the Instruction Manual, Instruction DVD, Student Workbook, Tests Booklet, Fraction Overlays, and lifetime access to the Epsilon Digital Pack. The Epsilon level teaches fractions in an intuitive way with visual explanations of equivalent fractions, common denominators, and fractions and numbers larger than 1. Students will also understand addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of fractions and mixed numbers. The Fraction Overlays are colored pieces that correspond to Manipulative Blocks. Thirty-nine total pieces represent halves through sixteenths. There are vinyl pieces that represent the numerator (5 green, 2 orange, 3 pink, 4 yellow, 5 blue, and 6 purple). The clear lined overlays portray the denominator (two each of halves, thirds, fourths, fifths, sixths, and tenths and one each of eighths and sixteenths). Three reference cards and 1 wipe-off marker are also included; all items come in a cardboard packet. The Instruction Manual features 30 lessons with detailed instructions that include illustrations of manipulatives and other visual modeling strategies. The back of the book contains line-listed answers to the student workbook and tests. The Instructional DVD features Steve Demme teaching a classroom each lesson. Each video lesson will help teachers understand the concepts being taught, as well as how to demonstrate it (as applicable); students can also watch with the teacher if deemed helpful. The Student Workbook contains a number of worksheets for each lesson along with systematic review pages.
