Written by a veteran homeschooling mother of three, and built on the solid foundation of God's Word, each installment of the Weaver unit study curriculum is filled with the lesson plans you need to teach your children most core subjects at home. A daily Bible theme is used as a foundation, around which lessons are created for each student---allowing multiple students to study the same main subject at the same time with assignments geared to their grade level.
Volume 4 covers a number of topics through a study of the Old Testament, including physical & spiritual giants, map-making, geography, the atmosphere, plants, Civil War, plant biology, parables, scientific classification, architecture, the temple, trade routes, famous buildings, nutrition, the body, ancient kingdoms, earthquakes, droughts, style of writing, the prophets, and more.
You'll find comprehensive, age-appropriate lesson plans for a full year of instruction in Bible, Social Studies, Science, and Language Arts, (plus memory verses which may be used for penmanship). The program is designed so that any of the five volumes can be used for any number of students. The Weaver Curriculum is divided by Volumes and Supplemental Volumes. Volumes 1 through 5 (each sold-separately) are for grades K-6, and Supplemental Volumes 1 through 5 (each sold-separately) are designed for grades 7-12.
Pages are color-coded, and organized first by chapter, and then by grade (i.e. there are separate lesson papers for grades K-6 for each chapter). Lessons are about a paragraph-to-a-page in length and feature an objective followed by an activity. It should take about one year to complete each volume. A scope and sequence, organized by unit, lays out the number of days, Bible references, and topics covered in each subject.
Scripture is from the NASB. 883 loose-leaf pages, with separate resource section in the back. Comes with three-ring-binder.
Please Note: Math, Grammar, and Phonics are not included in this curriculum.
Some sold-separately resources are available to help with this program: The Day by Day planner tells you what to teach, when to teach it, and what you need to teach it. The Wisdom Words curriculum is an application method of teaching Grammar and Composition. The Weaver Teaching Tips and Techniques book provides information on how to teach each subject, with ideas and lists used in teaching. Resource books are optional, but are referred to throughout the program; a list of these books is included.
