THE CHANGING SHAPE OF PROTESTANISM IN THE SOUTH originates from a conference in March 1995 in Columbia, South Carolina, sponsored by the Center on Religion in the South (housed on the campus of the Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary). This book focuses on those religious and social developments that are a part of the changing cultural landscape of life in the South. These developments are not seen as unique to the South, but reflect a pattern seen in the whole country.
