There are 16 activities included in this book. You will be introduced to some origami history, the basic mathematical ideas related to origami folding sequences, and some exciting three-dimensional unit origami models. The activities can be used with geometry and algebra classes, and are appropriate for 9th and 10th grade students as well as middle school students. Additionally, the activities offer opportunities for group work, journal writing, and projects. Vignettes throughout the book may prompt students to discuss their own experiences with origami. The overview that follows explains in detail how you can best use this book. Activities 1-7 introduce students to origami and provide folding practice. Activities 8-16 students learn to fold a series of polyhedra. In Activities 7 and 16 students are encouraged to explore and extend in an open-ended way the concepts they have just learned. For each activity, the student pages are directly followed by the teacher pages.
