Anselm Aosta, Bec and Canterbury: Papers in Commemoration of the Nine-hunderedth Anniversary of Anselm's Enthronement
This volume celebrates the ninth centenary of the enthronement of St Anselm as Archbishop of Canterbury (25 September 1093), including also the lecture given in Canterbury cathedral on 25 September 1993 by Sir Richard Southern. The papers concern Anselm and his contemporaries such as Guibert of Nogent and Roscelin of Compiegne, Anselm's philosophy and theology, his knowledge of canon law, his exile, the Lives written about him, and his later influence both in the Middle Ages and among modern philosophers. They combine to provide a fresh view of key aspects of Anselm's life and thought.
