Build solid writing skills in your students with WORLD Magazine's Write with WORLD middle school curriculum.
In a world where students need to meet and exceed educational standards while often navigating worldview conflict, Write with WORLD trains students to look for underlying worldviews in what they read and articulate their own worldview in what they write. This program is also unique in that rather than following a standard progression of writing 'rules,' it teaches students to approach writing as if they were professionals following a professional model.
This grade 7 student text (year 1 of 2) features four units that cover:
Developing Critical Readers
Developing Writers: Building Blocks and Biography
Writing Autobiography
Crafting Narratives
With entries by writers from either WORLD Magazine or God's World News, students will discover a wealth of tips on how 'real writers' read, think, or write. With an emphasis on professional writing, students will learn to discover their voice and take on assignments that actually matter. Creative exercises integrate viewing images and thinking about images, while 'writer's journal' assignments provide a variety of interesting thought-exercises. 'The Professors Office' sections feature the perspective of a professor providing writing tips on the process of writing, organization, description, brainstorming, and other important conceptual elements. Grammatical and technical instruction is also included throughout. Fill-the-blank vocabulary questions are integrated alongside writing assignments and reading/worldview projects.
239 pages, softcover. Non-consumable and non-reproducible textbook. Please note that this student book does not come with online access/content; that is included with the purchase of the sold-separately teacher's guide. Slightly Imperfect.
