Two ordinary young women left the comforts of the United States to serve God by helping the poor in Afghanistan. They soon found themselves in the midst of an international war on terrorism--and in a Taliban prison. Accused of teaching about Christianity, Dayna and Heather sat in prison while the events of September 11, 2001 unraveled around them and worldwide attention focused on their captors--the Taliban. They wondered and prayed, fearing for their lives. In November 2001 U.S. Special Forces intervened and rescued them. In this book Dayna and Heather describe their sudden arrest, captivity and dramatic rescue. They also discuss their work with the destitute women and children of Afghanistan, whom they grew to love. Throughout the book these two courageous women emphasize how their faith in God motivated them to go to Afghanistan and then sustained then during difficult times. Dayna and Heather hope their book will bring encouragement to those facing difficult situations as well as challenge people to give their lives for something bigger than themselves, such as serving the poor.
