The Biology for the Logic Stage Teacher Guide includes 36 weeks of instruction (6 units) that cover ecology, plants, invertebrates, vertebrates, animals, and the human body. Based on a classical science education methodology, this manual is designed to give teachers the tools needed to help middle-school students explore biological topics through hands-on inquiry, information, writing, and a science project. This teacher's guide includes weekly student assignment lists, which clearly lay out what students are to complete for their experiment, sketch, vocabulary & memory work, writing, and date-work. Pre-labeled sketches and teacher-led discussion questions are provided along with unit tests and a year-end test (with answer keys). Information is also given for each experiment, including explanations of the expected results. Two schedules---one 2-days-per-week and one 5-days-per week---are also provided. The Biology for the Logic Stage student guide is sold-separately and is necessary to complete the program, as it contains the student forms. There are five books used as reference works for this curriculum; the first two are used as 'spine' texts: - The Usborne Science Encyclopedia
- The Kingfisher Science Encyclopedia
- Encyclopedia of Nature by DK
- The Usborne Illustrated Dictionary of Science
- Human Body (DK Eyewitness Book)
Biology for the Logic Stage is appropriate for Grades 5-8 / Ages 10-13. Will take up to 3 hours per week. 257 pages, softcover. Tests and appendix material are reproducible for in-family use.
