Working toward a better understanding of Jewish prophecy around the time of Jesus, Gray turns to the works of Josephus, the richest and most informative source of information about events in Palestine in the late Second Temple period (approximately 150 B.C.E. to 70 C.E.). While isolated passages from the writings of Josephus are routinely sited in general studies of early Jewish prophecy, the present work is the first comprehensive examination of this material.
