The Grail Psalms, published in 1963, were adopted worldwide for the Liturgy of the Hours, then approved for general liturgical usage after Vatican II. The book sought to reproduce the rhythms of the original Hebrew so they could be set to music, as in compositions by Joseph Gelineau.
