Translated by Richard R. Caemmerer, this volume contains Luther's lectures on Deuteronomy. These lectures antedate Luther's lectures on Genesis a little more than 10 years. Luther delivered his lectures on Deuteronomy to his fellow Augustinians in Wittenberg on February 23, 1523. He completed them early in 1525. Luther was well acquainted with what Jerome, Origen, and other ancient expositors had written about Deuteronomy. To him, however, the fifth book of Moses contained far more than those men, learned though they were, had found in it.
