How Great Thou Art's An Introduction to Art History by Barry Stebbing is a full-year of art history that can be integrated into any type of homeschool! This curriculum features age-integrated, 30-minute sessions that connect art history to other areas of fine arts.

This course includes a 44-page booklet with the lessons that students either read or listen to; a set of full-color sheets featuring artwork by each featured artist; and a set of cardstock art lesson cards. Twelve days' worth of lessons for each artist combine factual information about the artist's life with a brief art lesson. Three quizzes are also integrated into the program. As students finish studying the masterpiece cards and complete their art history lessons, they can be placed into the included three-ring-binder, creating a delightful portfolio by the end of the course.

Students will study Rembrandt, Carl Linnaeus, and Edgar Degas. The art lessons cover drawing with lines, adding texture, copying the Masters, soft lead colored pencil work, and beginning painting with markers. Terms covered include: primary, secondary, and tertiary colors, tones, monochromatic pictures and color theory, foreshortening, Impressionism, Neo Classical period, pastels, composition, focal point, chiaroscuro, and more.

Ages 6 & up.

Note that one sculpture discussed is a nude sculpture, but the publisher has blocked out the objectionable parts with a bar; there is a brief discussion in the text regarding Greeks glorifying nudity while Christians are taught that nakedness is your shame.

Reproducible for use within one homeschool/family.
