J. C. Ryle puts forth the doctrine of assurance in clear and uncomplicated prose, winding through some oftentimes confusing theology. Showing assurance to be a scriptural idea, Ryle is clear that a truly saved Christian may not arrive at this hope but yet still be saved. Yet the hope of assurance should be greatly desired, and Ryle implores Christians to seek it, as it tends to make the holiest Christians.
