Rachel, the daughter of a widowed shepherd, has come across something curious in the dusty streets of Bethlehem - a beautiful bell made of pure silver. No one can tell her where it came from, but an old blind woman in town tells Rachel that she may keep the bell until something wonderful happens.
Rachel finds out just how special the bell is on the eve of the very first Christmas. When she makes the journey to the manger with the shepherds, she has nothing to offer the tiny baby. Then Mary notices the silver bell that Rachel has tied around a lamb's neck and Rachel knows what her gift will be. It is that bell, with its gentle jingle, that becomes the sign of Christmas. Its musical tinkling can still be heard on Christmas Eve, beckoning all who hear it to remember and celebrate the meaning of our Savior's birth.
