This books is structured in three parts. The first approaches pastoral ministry from a more personal perspective, considering aspects such as the very human nature of the person who performs the pastorate, his condition as the father of a family, etc. as well as their interpersonal relationships, both with the church and with the rest of the world. Second, the pastor's own ministry is dealt with in its fundamental aspects such as the calling, ministerial authority, leadership, etc. without avoiding current challenges such as the surrounding spiritual atmosphere, the fast pace of life, secularization or the lack of personal commitment of the believers themselves. The dangers inherent in the ministry or even its own financing are not ignored. The third part introduces the reader to that facet of the title that may have surprised him from the beginning, but which is clarified in the introduction to the book: that of the martyr, as a witness to Jesus in his double role as proclaimer of his message and as payer of the price that such testimony carries. The vital trajectory of the apostle Paul serves as a guide and model throughout the book, according to the account of the Book of Acts and his own writings, the different Pauline epistles contained in the New Testament. This work is especially dedicated to the multitude of practically anonymous pastors and their families, who make the work of God advance and prosper throughout our world.
