Arguing that a faithful church must maintain its unique identity in the midst of the world-not in escape from it-Rev. Jason Stellman wants Christians to understand that they are alien citizens living in a foreign land. Believing that most Evangelicals are so immersed in contemporary secular culture that they have left behind their Christian peculiarity, Stellman argues they must-for the sake of the Gospel-regain their distinctive identity. Stellman is not suggesting that Christians withdrawal from culture, but rather that they should engage their participation from the basis of Christian identity. We should see our lives from a future standpoint and recognize God's grace as it is performed in our lives, even when we cannot see it in the present.
